Controversial words from Mr. Hardaway were said somewhat recently. His message was pretty clear, he is a bigot and a homophobe. I have decided to put in my two cents just so I can post these pictures with some relevance. HAHA.
I'm not really going to tackle the idea of being gay in professional sports. Simply because there must be gay people playing already. With hundreds of players in any given sport and given that the gay population is roughly 10% from what I understand. The truth is in the math. Although being gay and OUT in professional sport is has yet to happen. It's a matter of time until it happens and I don't really forsee much problem with that unless I have severely misjudged the amount of people who share Tim's opinion because I assume there isn't much people that way.
Anyways, what interests me is the idea of homophobia. I think I should preface this with the fact that I really don't know any gay people (well, more specifically openly gay people because there are a number of them that are suspect ...haha) so really, I have no personal experience to draw on to verify the gay-straight relationship dynamic in my case. However, other than being exposed to explicit male-on-male action, I really don't care much about a person's sexual orientation. Behind closed doors, I'm sure most people are freaks and do things that they rather not have spoken out loud in public. So about homophobia, I think it's a term that's used for people who lack understanding. I suppose it's much like most phobias, like arachnephobia, a fear of spiders that is more or less irrational. Spiders, although menacing in photos are still much, much smaller than humans and are pretty much harmless (in this part of the world anyways). Homosexuals, granted are humans and thus the same size but are also pretty much harmless. It's pretty absurd to be fearful of something that does not effect you. Being gay and being a nymphomaniac are two seperate things altogether. Gay guys don't just say hi and stick their dicks in your ass when you're not looking. The problem really arises because generally people who oppose homosexuality do so of religious conviction, and you all know how I feel about the validity of religion itself. These people think that sexuality is a choice and that all gays just need some persuasion. If you can truly believe this, then being homophobic starts to make sense. Because the ulterior is that perhaps straight people could somehow be coaxed into being homosexuals, which is of course ludicrous. No amount of gay porn would make me hungry for man meat. I am then forced to believe that people who are homophobes are most likely unconvinced themselves of their own sexuality. Maybe they do believe that a bit of homosexual contact would make them 'change teams' and I find amusement in that.
There. I said it. And for those who need me to connect the dots: Tim Hardaway, you are gay.

Jesus Camp is a documentary that follows an evangelical christian community. Below is just an youtube excerpt from the film that is rather comedic. This film has also been nominated for a 2007 Oscar for Best Documentary Feature.

Although there are many times in this movie where the message that is being preached is completely absurd, you have to remind yourself that this is an honest documentary that speaks the truth about organized religion. The proceedings are frightening and the stuffs of cults. Children and church do not belong together. The result of this combination is plain and obvious brainwashing. In all honestly, my heart aches when I see people in church. I don't know how people do it. How can you get up everday and beg for forgiveness, yell, cry and praise all at the same time? It pains me to know that there are people who believe in this. Well educated people should know better. It's 2007!!! Let's leave our dogmas behind and be free. For people who don't know about Richard Dawkins, who is an evolutionary biologist and the most recent Author of "The God Delusion"...I'd like to paraphase a quote that I heard from one of his speeches or whatever I saw on youtube. (there's a bunch there if you're interested. they are enlightening)basically he goes on to say... Religion not only encourages, but commends blind faith. To believe in the notion of a God without any evidence. In fact, the less evidence, the more committed you become. Of course, these values if not in the context of religion would be totally bogus and whack. But somehow become a valued quality in the name of God....Anyways, what I wrote is the gist of what he said but I'm much less articulate. I dunno why my a lot of my blog entries revolve around these issues but it's just amazing to me that people can whole-heartedly believe in some guy in the sky who somehow gives a sh*t about the banalities of the daily lives of every single person on earth.
